Frequently Asked Questions: Answers for Pet Owners in Colorado Springs

Do I need an appointment?

No appointment is needed to visit our emergency room. It is always helpful if you call first, however, to let us know you are on your way and inform us if you will need assistance transporting your pet from the car into the clinic.

What should I bring with me to Uintah Pet Emergency?

The best way to help our veterinarians treat your pet appropriately is to provide us with your primary veterinarian's name/contact information, and any medications your pet is currently taking. If you believe your pet has ingested something harmful, please bring the package with you.

What types of animals can be treated at Uintah Pet Emergency?

Our veterinarians are trained in a wide variety of small animal species including dogs, cats, pocket pets, reptiles, and birds. If you have a question about whether the veterinarian on duty will be able to treat your pet, please call (719) 633-3214.

Do you treat wildlife?

No. Treating wildlife is vastly different from working with companion animal pets. If you find an injured wild animal, we recommend you call the Wild Forever Foundation at 475-WILD. They will be able to advise you on the best way to help injured wildlife.

What if my pet needs to be hospitalized overnight?

Our veterinarians will work with you to create the best treatment plan for your pet. Sometimes that includes overnight hospitalization. Patients requiring overnight care will be transported by a veterinarian or certified veterinary technician to our sister hospital, Powers Pet Emergency and Specialty, where the staff there will continue to provide care 24/7. There is no additional fee for transferring your pet.

What forms of payment do you accept?

As is customary for a veterinary emergency clinic, fees must be paid in full at the time of service. We accept the following forms of payment:

  • Most pet health insurance plans
  • All major credit cards (MasterCard, Visa, American Express, Discover)
  • Cash and local check
  • CareCredit (a healthcare credit card)
    • To access the Pay my Provider tool for CareCredit please click here.
  • VetBilling (a third-party payment plan)

We are proud to extend discounts to the military and first responders with valid ID.

I’m not sure if this is an emergency. Can you help me over the phone?

We are not authorized to provide medical advice over the phone. Plus, it is impossible for a veterinarian to evaluate your pet without a thorough physical exam. If you are concerned about your pet, please don’t hesitate to bring them in to be seen by one of our medical professionals.

What happens if my pet passes away at home?

In the unfortunate event your pet passes away or is euthanized at home, we offer cremation services. Our team will treat you and your pet with dignity and compassion throughout the process.  We understand how difficult the loss of a companion animal can be.
